Red Square undertakes concept design as part of its full interior design service. Concept design follows the space planning stage.

Concept designs show the likely appearance of the interior after the scheme has been completed. It will not be of sufficient detail to make a formal planning application but enables the client to sign off the agreed approach, so that Red Square can develop an outline budget for the scheme.

We produce visuals to communicate the concept design for key areas and concept boards that focus on general finishes. These help bring the concept to life.

The concept design stage incorporates seeking pre-planning advice and updating of sketched plans as necessary to take account of any revisions from the client or planning and listed buildings/English Heritage. more

Red Square concept designs include sketched perspectives that help us communicate our inspiration and ideas. This helps clients visualise the proposed changes for their home. From these concept designs it is possible to gain a full understanding of how your home will look and feel. Our concept design services include some of the following:

• Mood boards - pictorial visuals show and communicate the use of colour schemes, textures, light, form, function and proportion
• Sample selection - through researching our extensive sample library we provide ideas relating to materials, use of colour and lighting together with choices of finishes such as flooring
• 3D visuals - rendered perspectives showing the new interior space
• 3D models - showing the relationship between the structure and volumes of your new space.

Outline budget and pre-planning advice

During the concept design stage we supply a broad outline of budget costs and provide advice regarding planning and building control approvals. This includes:

• Budget planning - we provide a quantity surveyor service throughout the project so that plans/proposals are kept within budgets agreed
• Pre-planning advice - where applicable we liaise with planning and building control, other statutory authorities such as English Heritage and landlords/managing agents. We seek pre-planning advice as this can often reduce the time it takes for a formal planning application to be granted.

At the end of this concept design stage, we develop production drawings, seek formal planning permission and provide an accurate build cost budget.
