Design detailing shows the exact construction and design standards of each element

The design detailing stage of a Red Square home interior design project is undertaken after the production drawings have been completed, planning permission has been granted and build costs have been determined.

Design detailing includes the production of accurate scaled drawings that can be used for tender and construction purposes. The purpose of design detailing is to enable accurate costings to be calculated and enables exacting construction and design standards to be maintained throughout the interior design project build.

Red Square produces a design detailing package, which correctly interprets the agreed concept, materials and product specifications and the budget. This design detailing is essential before the start of the build service. more

Design detailing may include:

  • detailed drawings - for building control. These could include a demolition plan for internal or external structures, a construction plan giving structural details and supply of mechanical and electrical installation requirements
  • working drawing package - this includes working drawings for general build (material junctions/ surrounds/ flash gaps), ceilings (light troughs/ covings/ cornicing), joinery (cupboards/ stairs/ alcoves/ doors) and drawings for suppliers
  • specification and scope of works document - this is a written description of the implementation works and performance specifications
  • quantity surveying - the quantity surveyor uses this production information to set the final project cost
  • tender package - to include a full set of plans, materials and product specifications and scope of works which we use to invite tenders from specialist suppliers or provide to clients as part of a tender support package.

During the design detailing stage we develop materials and product specifications.
