Red Square was appointed to completely refurbish/modernise this split level Penthouse in Hampstead. The challenge was to take three very different spaces that had been combined into one apartment over 25 years and make one useable/flexible space with a ‘wow’ factor
Red Square was commissioned by the client to provide a full design & build services; including environmental studies, structural engineering, product sourcing, interior design, bespoke furniture and construction.
The client’s key objectives were:
- Create a balance between their desire to have a contemporary architectural space; whilst utilising antique furniture and paintings from their Italian Palazzo.
- Glass walkway to become a controlled environment; original structure was cold in the winter and extremely hot in the summer. This was achieved by introduction of air cooling, under floor heating and new glazing (Pilkington K, Pilkington Optifloat and Reflex).
- Mezzanine area to be a flexible space; providing either a guest bedroom or library/music zone.
- Master Bedroom suite connected to the main living areas.
- Expose the spectacular full height balcony doors to create a truly sophisticated formal living area.
- Unique kitchen design that would work within a very different space; i.e. glass walkway.
