Outdoor Space Design
At Red Square, we firmly believe that the exterior walls of a property should not become the outer
limits of an interior design project. Understanding how outdoor space will be used is critical to good
internal space planning and an essential part of any interior design project.
As well as ensuring there is appropriate access to external areas, a factor influencing interior design
is how the line of sight from the property can be enhanced. This may entail repositioning doors and
windows, or installing subtle garden lighting to enhance the features in the garden.
By undertaking the design of the garden and interior at the same time, design detailing will flow
naturally between internal and external spaces. Materials will complement each other and suit their
surroundings and planting, appropriate to the local weather and soil conditions found at the
property, to reinforce the overall sense of place, which is so important to allow any scheme to sit
comfortably within its natural surroundings.
With the increased use of home automation, security cameras and wireless technology, there are
now many practical reasons – in addition to design and aesthetics – why undertaking internal and
external design together, makes sense. Touchpad controlled irrigation systems and scene set mood
lighting all form part of a new scheme and need to be fully integrated from the outset.
As part of our comprehensive interior design solutions, we are now working in partnership with
Woodhams Landscapes Ltd, a leading garden design company with a highly prestigious portfolio of
gardens ranging from small penthouse terraces to country estates. Woodhams’ signature
statements and high‐impact graphic planting is now acknowledged worldwide and their gardens are
becoming recognised as iconic statements of the 21st century. In addition to having an unrivalled
ability to interpret a design brief and create stunning results, their ongoing garden management
service is highly valued as an integral part of establishing the scheme and protecting the investment.
